Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev warned today that the possible entry of Arab forces into the war in Syria could cause a "new world war" and called, instead, for talks on a ceasefire.
"The Americans and our Arab partners must seriously think about this: do they want a permanent war?" Medvedev said in an interview with the German newspaper "Handelsblat", as reported by AFP.
"Do they really think that they would win such a war very quickly?" asked the Russian Prime Minister.
He pointed out that all parties must be brought to the negotiating table, "instead of provoking a new world war".
