An unknown assailant attacked a Jewish woman with a knife in an Arab town in southern Israel and seriously injured her before fleeing, police said.
A woman, aged around 60, was attacked at the market in Rahat, a city with a majority Bedouin population.
In almost daily attacks over the past five months, Palestinians have killed 27 Israelis, mostly in knife attacks. In the wave of violence, 155 Palestinians died, most of whom, according to Israel, were attackers, while some were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces.
Israel says the wave of violence was triggered by a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement to attack near holy sites in Jerusalem. The Palestinians responded that the violence was the result of frustration over nearly half a century of occupation.
