Police in Malaysia detained seven members of the Islamic State today on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks in that country.
Police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said more people had been arrested in the past three days in several states. He emphasized that the suspects of planning a bomb attack in Kuala Lumpur were arrested.
The suspects are members of the same militant cell that planned bombings at strategic locations in Malaysia. One of those arrested was receiving orders from an Indonesian citizen in Syria who was involved in the recent bombings in Jakarta, according to a Malaysian police statement.
