The former commander of the US Guantanamo Bay base, Capt. John Nettleton, has been charged with obstructing an investigation and other offenses in connection with the 2015 death of a civilian working at the base.
Nettleton is also accused of covering up facts related to the death of Christopher Tarr, whose body was found in the sea not far from the US base in Cuba.
The indictment stated that Nettleton concealed the fact that he was in a relationship with Taro's wife and that the two had fought on the night of Taro's disappearance.
The captain was arrested today in Florida.
His lawyer said he had not seen the indictment and declined to comment on the case.
Nettleton commanded the naval base at Guantanamo, but not the prison for suspected terrorists.
