A North Korean man is suing a Dutch company because he believes he is a victim of modern slavery

A North Korean worker who claims to be a victim of modern slavery in a Polish shipyard has filed a criminal complaint against a Dutch company that buys products from the Polish firm.

The group "Global Legal Action Network" announced today that the man, whose name has not been released, worked 12 hours a day in unsafe conditions and that most of his earnings were taken by North Korea.

His identity has not been released for security reasons.

The lawyers did not want to say which Dutch company was involved in order not to jeopardize the investigation.

Under Dutch law, companies can end up in court if they exploit workers, even if it happens in another country.
