The US House of Representatives, in which the Republicans have a majority, today adopted a decision that Syrian and Iraqi refugees will no longer be accepted into the country.
289 representatives of the House of Representatives voted for that decision, and 137 voted against it.
The decision to suspend the admission of refugees to the US must now be considered by the Senate.
The White House announced that US President Barack Obama will veto today's decision by the House of Representatives.
