US President Barak Obama will arrive tonight on an official visit to Kenya, which is the first time he has visited his father's homeland as president, and with it he will begin a tour in Africa, during which he will also visit Ethiopia.
Obama, the first black president of the USA, is the son of a Kenyan father and a white mother from the American state of Kansas, Reuters reminded.
Obama is expected to meet with his relatives during his stay in Nairobi, but there are no plans for him to travel to the village where his father's family is from.
Kenyan authorities are taking strong security measures to protect the US president from Somali militants linked to Al Qaeda, so parts of Nairobi will be blocked off and airspace will be closed during the landing and takeoff of Obama's plane.
In Kenya, Obama will address the participants of the entrepreneurship summit and hold meetings on trade and investment, security and counter-terrorism measures, as well as democracy and human rights.
"Despite many challenges, Africa is a continent of extraordinary dynamism and one of the fastest growing markets in the world, with extraordinary people and extraordinary resilience," Obama said Wednesday.
"The opportunities before us are fantastic, and we just have to break down stereotypes and abolish borders," Obama said.
