In a train accident in Tunisia, which happened this morning when a passenger train collided with a truck near the capital of that country, 17 people were killed and 70 were injured, the authorities announced.
The police specified that the accident happened when the train ran into a truck trying to cross the tracks before it passed. The accident happened near the city of Fahs, about 60 kilometers from Tunis.
Due to the force of the collision, two wagons jumped off the rails, and a large number of passengers fell out of them, the rescue services said and added that at least 20 ambulances were on the scene, where they were helping the injured and removing the victims' bodies.
Rescuers are still pulling passengers from the wreckage of the train.
Officials visited the scene of the accident, and as the reason for the collision, they cite the speeding of both the train and the truck.
