The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, proposed to determine the exact date when Catholic and Orthodox believers will celebrate Easter at the same time, Vatican Radio announced.
"We have to agree that the celebration (of Easter) will be on the same day," Pope Francis said, suggesting that it be the second Sunday in April.
The head of the Roman Catholic Church joked that it is "scandalous" that Christians talk like this today: "My Jesus was resurrected today, and yours will be resurrected next week," Jutarnji list reported.
Pope Francis' proposal was supported by Coptic Bishop Kamal Fahim Awad, who in an interview with the Italian "Stampa" said:
"That would be fantastic. Many believers do not understand how it is possible that Jesus Christ resurrected according to different churches on a different day, sometimes a week and sometimes a month later".
