The first women's expedition, which included seven mountaineers from Serbia and Medenica from Montenegro, set off on April 16 for the Himalayas to conquer the 5.663-meter Tarpu Čuli peak. The goal of the project called "Keep climbing and open your mind" is to create conditions for increasing women's mobility and raising awareness of environmental protection.

In Nepal, according to the police, at least 1.130 people have been confirmed dead, while another 34 people died in India, 12 in Tibet and two each in Bangladesh and China.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Komal Singh Bam said that the death toll can be expected to rise, as many people are still missing or buried in the rubble.
At the general hospital in Kathmandu, several people with broken bones approached the doctors. It is not known how many people were injured.
According to Reuters, several buildings in the capital were destroyed in the earthquake.
A historic house, built in the 19th century, collapsed in Kathmandu after an earthquake. At least one body was pulled from the rubble.
The Darara Tower, built in 1832, was one of the landmarks of the capital and was open to visitors.

According to Reuters, at least 50 people are trapped in the remains of the tower and its ruins.
The US Geological Survey said that the earthquake is expected to cause extensive damage.
Ambulance sirens and government helicopters can be heard in the city, according to AP.
National radio calls on citizens to keep their composure and stay outside because of possible aftershocks.
The tremors were also felt in New Delhi and other cities in the north of India, the British agency says, and the AP said that the earthquake was also felt by the residents of the city of Lahore in Pakistan.
"Times of India" writes on its website that stronger earthquakes were felt in Delhi, Calcutta, Lucknow, Jaipur and Renchi in the north of India.
In areas with solitary confinement in New Delhi and the nearby city of Gurgaon, employees hurriedly left the buildings after the first earthquakes, and eyewitnesses reported that windows, chandeliers and dishes shook in apartments, while cracks and broken glass appeared in dilapidated buildings.

A devastating earthquake triggered a large avalanche on Mount Everest where, according to the latest information, at least ten people died.
The avalanche buried the base camp, which has increased the fear for the safety of hundreds of mountaineers in the area," said an official of the Ministry of Tourism in Kathmandu, Gyanendra Shrestha.
Ministry officials estimate that at least 1.000 mountaineers, including about 400 foreigners, were at the base camp and on Everest at the time of the earthquake, reports Reuters.
