Five Chinese feminists detained in Beijing on the eve of March 8, International Women's Day, after they tried to distribute material against sexual violence, have been released.
Their lawyer Liang Saojun confirmed yesterday that the activists were released on parole and that charges could still be filed against them.
The activists were arrested in March as they were preparing to hand out material as part of a campaign to combat sexual violence in the family.
Their detention caused criticism from the international community.
