Nine people died today in and around Baghdad, and one commander of Kurdish units lost his life in clashes with fighters of the Islamic State in northern Iraq.
The most victims - four - were taken by a bomb that exploded this morning at the cattle market in the town of Madain, twenty kilometers southeast of Baghdad.
On that occasion, 11 people were injured, the Iraqi police said. The second explosion, near a row of car service centers in the center of Baghdad, killed three and wounded 10 people.
Another explosion occurred in the town of Taji, just north of Baghdad. The target of the attack was a military patrol - two soldiers were killed and four were wounded.
Medics have confirmed the number of dead and wounded.
Meanwhile, two Kurdish security officials said that Brigadier General Hussein Mansur was killed last night near the city of Kirkuk by sniper fire.
This officer of the Kurdish security forces, known as the Peshmerga, was killed during fighting with Islamic State fighters.
Mansur was killed just as he replaced Brigadier General Shirk Fatih, who was killed the same day in an Islamist attack on peshmerga positions near Kirkuk.
