Members of the terrorist organization Islamic State have released a video, demanding that a ransom of 200 million dollars be paid to them within the next 72 hours or they will kill two Japanese hostages.
The video was posted on the website of an Islamic State-affiliated insurgent.
The video shows two hostages in orange suits, and the extremists identified them as Kenji Goto Jogo and Haruna Yukawa.
The man who demanded the ransom sounded like a Briton involved in other beheadings of hostages kidnapped by the Islamic State, which controls a third of Iraq and Syria, the AP agency reported.
He said the Japanese were abducted for supporting Western military actions against the Islamic State.
"You proudly donated 100 million dollars to kill our women and children, to destroy Muslim houses," said the rebel.
Members of the Islamic State have killed hostages from Western countries before, but this is the first time they have threatened to execute the Japanese.
Japanese officials have not commented, so far, on that recording.
The Islamic State controls large parts of Iraq and Syria where it has established a caliphate.
