The radio of the terrorist organization Islamic State assessed today that the fact that the French satirical magazine "Charlie Hebdo" republished cartoons about the Prophet Muhammad on its cover was an "extremely stupid" act.
"Charlie Hebdo has again published cartoons insulting the prophet and it is an extremely stupid act," said a statement by Radio Al Bayan of the jihadist group, which is broadcast in areas under its control in Syria and Iraq, the AFP agency reported.
Official Tehran also condemned the publication of a new caricature of the Prophet Muhammad on the cover of today's edition of "Charlie Hebdo" and stated that it was "offensive and provocative".
"The cover of the French magazine provokes the emotions of Muslims and offends their feelings around the world and could be the spark of the flame of a significant circle of extremism," warned the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Marzieh Afham, adds AFP.
Although there is widespread opinion among Muslims in France that the satirical magazine labels and ostracizes Muslims, the Arab World Institute in Paris has given its full solidarity support to the "I am Charlie" campaign, which was launched as a symbol of resistance to terror.
