23 soldiers died in suicide attacks in Iraq

At least 23 people were killed today and 21 were injured in two suicide attacks and clashes in the Iraqi province of Anbar, in the west of Iraq, officials announced.

10 people were killed in the attacks carried out by suicide bombers on the Al-Juba mosque, where fighters against the jihadists were resting, and 13 more people were killed in the clashes that followed, while 21 were wounded.

The Al-Jaba Mosque is also located near the Al-Asad base where American military personnel are stationed.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but suicide attacks in Iraq are mostly carried out by Sunni extremists and members of the Islamic State.

ISIL members launched a major offensive in Iraq in June, during which they took control of areas north and west of Baghdad and significant parts of Anbar province.
