Israel criticized Switzerland today for agreeing to host an international conference next week on the application of the Geneva Convention, the international law of war, to the Palestinian territories.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs assessed that this procedure calls into question the famous Swiss policy of neutrality.
According to the ministry, the rally scheduled for December 17 is a political act with "only one purpose" - to attack Israel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland responded to these claims today by stating that the meeting will discuss the application of "international humanitarian law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, in the occupied Palestinian territories".
Palestinians want the West Bank and East Jerusalem - territories Israel seized from Jordan in the 1967 war - to be part of their future state.
