At least 50 jihadists of the Islamic State have died in the last 24 hours in the Kurdish city of Kobani in the north of Syria, on the border with Turkey.
"They were killed in airstrikes by the international coalition, led by the US, in violent fighting with the Kurds and in five suicide attacks in Kobani," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, adding that the bombing and the latest clashes brought the most casualties among the ranks of the Islamist organization. .
The Islamic State launched an offensive on Kobani in mid-September and succeeded in capturing parts of the city and dozens of surrounding villages. The city later became the target of US airstrikes against extremists.
The Islamic State has declared an Islamic Caliphate in the territories under its control in Iraq and Syria.
