At least 95 people were killed in airstrikes by the Syrian government on the stronghold of the extremist organization Islamic State (IS) in the city of Raqqa in northern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced.
"At least 95 people were killed in an airstrike by the Bashar al-Assad regime on an industrial zone in Raqqa, where a large number of civilians work," the Observatory said.
Among the victims are 52 civilians, and that attack brought the most victims in Raka so far, the statement added.
The spokeswoman for the State Department, Jennifer Psaki, said that the US was "horrified" by the information about the bombing, which killed "dozens of civilians" while settlements were destroyed.
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem has been in Russia since yesterday, who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin behind closed doors in Sochi.
Mualem's visit to Russia ends today.
