At least 21 people were killed and more than 100 were wounded in last night's series of airstrikes by Syrian government helicopters and warplanes on the northern city of El Bab controlled by the Islamic State extremist group, activists said today.
Director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Rami Abdurahman said that during the night there were a total of 10 attacks on El Bab in Aleppo province, including seven gasoline bombs, dropped from helicopters.
The media center in Aleppo stated that 30 people lost their lives in the attacks, while 85 were wounded.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's air force regularly bombards cities held by Islamic State extremists, as well as areas controlled by more moderate rebel groups.
The air campaign against the Islamic State and other extremists in Syria is being carried out by the international coalition, led by the USA. Washington has said it is not coordinating its attacks with the Damascus government.
