At least 24 people were killed in several bomb attacks in and around Baghdad today, security and health officials announced.
In the deadliest attack, a suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives at a checkpoint at the entrance to southern Baghdad, killing 20 people and wounding at least 53, AFP reported.
Officials fear that the death toll will rise as many are seriously injured.
Previously, the Islamic State jihadist organization executed another 85 members of the Albu Nimr tribe in Iraq as part of a mass killing operation launched last Sunday in retaliation for resistance to the extremist organization, a tribal leader and a security official said today.
