At least one person was killed and several were injured in the earthquake that hit the Chinese province of Yunnan, where the army and firefighters came to the rescue.
According to Chinese seismologists, the earthquake had a magnitude of 6,6, while the American Institute of Geophysics reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6,0.
The epicenter is located 85 kilometers from Puer, at a shallow depth, between five and ten thousand meters below the ground surface.
Some Chinese media reported that one person was killed and three were injured in the earthquake.
The earthquake was also felt in the capital of the province, Kunming, and was followed by a dozen smaller aftershocks.
Videos posted on social media show damaged houses with collapsed roofs and cracked walls, as well as panicked residents taking to the streets.
Xinhua news agency reported that telephone connections in the area were partially cut.
About 600 people died in the earthquake that hit Yunnan in August.
