Today in Bucharest, US Vice President Joe Biden again condemned Russia's annexation of Crimea and said that borders "should not be changed at gunpoint".
Biden said this after arriving on a one-day visit to Romania, during which the main topic will be the situation in Ukraine less than a week before important presidential elections in that country.
"The aggression in Crimea ... reminds us why we need NATO," Biden said in a speech at NATO's Otopeni air base near Bucharest.
Biden said that Romania, which shares a long border with Ukraine, "can count" on the US.
He said that the American obligation in accordance with Article Five, which refers to the collective defense of NATO members, represents a "sacred obligation".
