Three members of the secret service, who provided security for US President Barack Obama while he was in the Netherlands, were sent home due to disciplinary violations, the BBC reports.
The Washington Post reported that one of the three was "dead drunk" while on duty and was found passed out from alcohol in the lobby of a hotel in Amsterdam.
A spokesman for the secret service did not want to provide more details about the case, saying only that an investigation will be conducted.
The BBC estimates that this scandal will negatively affect the reputation of the American secret service, which has been trying to regain its old reputation in the public for some time, after a series of scandals that rocked it.
The British service recalls that in 2013, two agents of that service, who were also members of Obama's security, were removed from duty due to accusations of sexual harassment, and that in 2012, several agents were fired due to allegations that, while in Colombia, they hired prostitutes .
Those who may have been worried about the safety of the American president need not worry, because he is safe, as explained by Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan.
The whole incident with the drunk secret agent happened before Obama even arrived at the hotel in Amsterdam.
