At least 11 people were killed this morning in an armed attack on a court in Islamabad, when gunmen stormed the court complex and started shooting, after which two suicide bombers detonated explosives, Pakistani police said.
A judge and several lawyers were among the dead, and at least 24 people were injured, the British BBC reported.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, after which the area of the explosion was cordoned off and nearby schools were evacuated.
Police official Nabi Awan said that an unknown number of attackers broke into the part of the court complex where the offices of judges and lawyers are located, and two attackers blew themselves up after being surrounded by police.
Pakistani television footage showed blown windows, collapsed walls and rescuers carrying the dead and injured out of the building.
