EU and South Korea together against the crisis

EU leaders and South Korean President Park Geun-Hye, at the summit in Brussels, agreed to give a new impetus to the bilateral trade agreement.

"The prosperity of Europe is linked to the prosperity of other countries such as South Korea. The answer is not in protectionism, but in greater market opening," said today the President of the EU, Herman van Rompuy, at the closing of the EU-South Korea summit, which marked 50 years of their diplomatic ties, reports France Press.

The two sides cemented their relationship in 2011, with the first free trade agreement between the 28-member bloc and an Asian partner.

With this agreement, EU exports increased by 24 percent, and two years later, the EU is the largest foreign investor in South Korea, said the president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso.

However, according to the South Korean president, there is still plenty of room for improving relations.
