Indians in Brazil started protests today that will last a week, demanding the demarcation of their territories.
Protesters walked, pitched tents and blocked highways in cities across Brazil.
In Brasilia, 500 people erected tents in front of the Congress as a sign of protest against the constitutional reform, which stipulates that deputies participate in the demarcation of territories, reports AP.
Native Americans and their supporters say that passing the proposal would allow those with agricultural interests to usurp their land.
More than 600 demarcation plans remain. Only seven Indian territories were formed last year.
