Eight Kurdish policemen were killed and nine were wounded this morning in a bomb attack in northern Iraq, local authorities said.
The attack took place in the city of Tuz Hurmat, not far from the autonomous region of Kurdistan, when a car bomb hit a police convoy, in which there were Kurdish police officers.
A lot of Kurds live in Tuz Hurmat, which is why 700 Kurdish policemen belonging to the security forces of Kurdistan are deployed in that city.
Today's attack on the Kurds is the first that happened in Tuz Hurmat in the last three months.
Since the beginning of July, more than 700 people have been killed in violence in Iraq.
