In the Vietnamese city of Hanoi, thieves caught about 4000 cats, mostly domestic cats, and then sold their meat for three dollars per kilogram.
The money the thieves got was mostly gambled away on online games.
Bizarre thieves caught cats for two years, killed them, and then sold them as delicacies. The hunting process went like this: Every night they would set a trap for the cats with special baits. On average, they hunted between four and six cats.
In the meantime, the police caught the "cat kidnappers", after which they ended up in prison.
Their arrest came after angry locals reported to the police that more and more cats were mysteriously disappearing.
By the way, in some places in Vietnam, cats are considered a favorite snack, when they are grilled and served with rice wine.
