The article quoted the Iraqi dictator's words from the book "Saddam's Records: The Inner Workings of a Tyrant's Regime 1978-2001", which is due to be published in November.
The book offers interpreted transcripts of audio recordings of meetings between Saddam Hussein and his closest associates, records seized by coalition forces in April 2003. The tapes are now in the possession of one of the National Defense University research centers in Washington, D.C., and are available, upon request, to their professors.
"Their economy will never recover with the costs they have in the Gulf and Europe. They spend 68 billion dollars in the Gulf, and 128 billion in Europe. Unless America withdraws its troops from all corners of the world, its economy could never improve. America is not in its youth phase. She is on the border of old age, in the initial phase of old age..." said Husein, as reported by "Huffington Post".
"The American president could save a billion dollars here (in Iraq), a million dollars somewhere else, another two million in a third place, which might be useful, but not enough to probe his wound, which is so deep that it cannot be healed unless does not turn to the military budget", the Iraqi dictator assessed.
The book contains chapters on the Iran-Iraq War, the United States, and Israel (under the title "The Zionist Entity").
