One of the officials involved in the talks between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza said that "they have reached an agreement on a ceasefire and the ceasefire has started."
A Palestinian negotiator said Hamas had agreed to influence the smaller militant groups responsible for most of the rocket attacks on Israel to respect the ceasefire.
More than a dozen rockets have been fired from Gaza to the south of Israel since Thursday, and one person was killed and two more were seriously wounded in those attacks on Saturday.
