The minister in charge of oil in the rebel National Transitional Council in Libya, Ali Tarhuni, accused the West today of failing to fulfill promises of immediate financial aid to the rebels. Tarhuni told Reuters that months of fighting had emptied the coffers of the government in Benghazi, which was formed by rebels and that there is no more money. He stated that oil production has completely stopped due to the damage suffered by refineries and oil pipelines in the conflicts. "We have no more money. We are running out of everything," Tarhuni said, adding that he does not expect oil production to start soon. When asked how the rebel regime will survive, Tarhuni said that people died for this revolution and are still dying, and that the opposition will already find some way and will never give up. He stated that Benghazi is negotiating with foreign companies about future cooperation.
