An explosion occurred in an electric transformer in the capital of Venezuela, Caracas, reports AP, reports Tanjug.
Witnesses say that a fire broke out after the explosion.
The agency adds that the explosion contributed to the chaos among the citizens of Venezuela, who are affected by regular power outages these days.
Venezuela's opposition leader and self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido said state engineers had failed to repair three of the four transformers that exploded.
Guaido blames government corruption and mismanagement for the blackout.
AP reports the statement of the head of the union of electrical engineers in Venezuela, Winston Cabas, that the main conductors of the Guri hydroelectric plant, one of the key ones in Venezuela's electrical grid, overheated.
Despite the fact that the union is against the government, Kabas denied that the government is responsible for the sabotage of the hydroelectric power plant, saying that it is a problem with maintenance and the departure of professional staff.
"The system is vulnerable, fragile and unstable," Kabas told the AP.
