US President Donald Trump has fired the head of the US Secret Service, Randolph Ales, the White House announced. He will be replaced by James Marie, a member of this service, reports "Politico".
Press Secretary Sarah Sanders praised the "excellent job" that Randolph Ales has done since he was elected to the post in 2017 and added that Donald Trump is "thankful to him for more than 40 years of service to the country", reports Politico.
"Mr. Ales will be leaving soon and President Trump has chosen James Mario to take over as director starting in May," Sanders added.
Ales was informed of his impending resignation two weeks ago. He will remain in that position until a replacement is found for him, reports RTS.
The director of the secret service was directly responsible to Minister of State Security Kirstjen Nilsen, who resigned on Sunday.
Randolph Ales was appointed as the new director of the Secret Service in April 2017, succeeding Joseph Clancy.
Ales was in the Marines for 35 years, and was also deputy commissioner of Border and Customs Protection.
