The Iraqi court sentenced four people to death by hanging for belonging to the militant organization Islamic State and committed terrorist acts in Iraq and Syria, it was stated in a statement of the Iraqi judiciary today.
They were handed over to the Iraqi authorities by the Syrian Democratic Forces, the statement added.
A court in Baghdad convicted them of membership in IS and "criminal operations targeting innocent civilians, with the intention of disrupting peace and stability in Iraq and Syria."
The court announced that all four of the convicted are Iraqis.
In February, the Iraqi authorities announced that the Syrian Democratic Forces had so far handed over 280 Iraqis and foreign prisoners who had been fighting on the side of IS in Iraq and Syria since 2014.
