At least seven people, including three soldiers, were killed in two attacks in northeastern Nigeria, sources close to the security forces announced today.
Fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa group, an offshoot of the Boko shrine loyal to the Islamic State, attacked a military base about 50 kilometers from Maiduguri on Friday evening, killing three soldiers.
In another attack, which took place yesterday, gunmen fired at a house on the outskirts of Majduguri, where four civilians were killed. Local officials also attributed the attack to Boko Haram.
Boko Haram, whose name means opposition to Western education, advocates a radical interpretation of Sharia law, and in the conflict with Nigerian security forces since 2009, around 27.000 people have died while 1,8 million have left their homes.
