Rouhani is ready to talk with the US if Washington returns to the agreement

Iran is ready to hold negotiations with the US if Washington lifts sanctions on Tehran and returns to the Agreement on Iran's nuclear program, from which it withdrew last year, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

During the speech, which was broadcast live on Iranian television, he emphasized that Iran has always believed in negotiations.

"If they lift the sanctions, stop exerting economic pressure and return to the Agreement, we are ready to hold talks with America today, right now and anywhere," Rouhani said.

France, Great Britain and Germany, which signed the international agreement on Iran's nuclear program, simultaneously called on the Iranian authorities to calm tensions and continue dialogue.

"We are concerned about the danger of the agreement reached in 2015 collapsing under the pressure of the sanctions imposed by the US and Iran's decision not to implement some obligations from the agreement," the Elysee Palace reported in a joint statement.

It added that the three countries are deeply concerned about the recent events in the Gulf and the worsening security situation in that region.

"We believe that the moment has come to act sensibly and find a way to prevent the escalation of tensions and return to dialogue," the statement said.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that on July 8, Iran began enriching uranium above the permitted limit of 3,67 percent.

In addition, Iran threatened that it will not comply with some other provisions of the nuclear agreement "in 60 days" if a solution is not found and Iran's demands are not met.

Iran's measures are a response to the US withdrawal from the agreement and the reimposition of sanctions.

The agreement on the Iran nuclear deal was concluded in Vienna in 2015 by Iran and six major powers - the USA, Russia, China, France, Great Britain and Germany, after 12 years of crisis over the program.
