A dangerous heat wave has affected the Midwest and East Coast of the United States of America (USA), and it is estimated that more than 200 million people are at risk.
Extremely high temperatures were recorded, and the highest, 48,3 degrees Celsius, was measured in Des Moines, the capital of Iowa, agencies report.
Warnings have been issued for many states in the US, from Kansas to Ohio and from North Carolina to New Hampshire.
Today is expected to be the hottest day in some cities.
In New York and Philadelphia, the hottest days since 2012 are expected, and in Washington, the temperature will exceed 38 degrees, for the first time since 2016.
Meteorologists predict that temperatures will start to drop at the beginning of next week, when it is expected to be around 26 degrees.
