In the monsoon rains that caused floods in Pakistan, 17 people died, the authorities announced today, adding that parts of the 18 million-strong city of Karachi, in the south, were under water.
Rescue services in Karachi stated that seven people died from electrocution and three from the collapse of the roof.
Police said five people died in floods and three in electrocution in Punjab province.
The monsoon season in South Asia lasts from June to September.
