Khan: There will be no negotiations with India until autonomy is restored to Kashmir

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said tonight that there will be no talks with India until it lifts the curfew in Kashmir and restores the status of constitutional autonomy to the disputed territory.

Khan said that during his upcoming address at the annual session of the UN General Assembly, he will talk about human rights violations in the Indian part of Kashmir.

In August, the Indian authorities abolished the constitutional autonomy of part of Kashmir and adopted a decree revoking the special status of that region, which was guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.

India claims that the decision to withdraw the special constitutional status of Kashmir, and move it from the category of a federal state to a territory, will free the area from separatism.

Kashmir has been a disputed area between India and Pakistan since independence from Great Britain in 1947.
