The Security Council of the United Nations (UN) called for a ceasefire in Syria and expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in that country, announced the ambassador of the Netherlands to the UN, Karel van Ooster. "We discussed the ceasefire. The Security Council again called for the respect of Resolution 2401," Osterom said, referring to the resolution calling for a one-month ceasefire in Syria, reports Reuters. He spoke to reporters after a closed-door meeting of the Security Council, held at the request of Great Britain and France.
