Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said today that there will be neither war nor negotiations with the US.

"American officials have been talking about us cynically for some time, and in addition to sanctions, they are talking about war and negotiations," the Ayatollah said on Twitter.

"Let me tell the people: There will be neither war nor negotiations with the USA," the message in English reads.

There is speculation that Iran will return to the negotiating table following Washington's unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and the reimposition of sanctions on Tehran.

Iran has rejected US President Donald Trump's proposal for dialogue, saying that Washington is no longer a reliable partner as it has violated its obligations under the agreement.
