French President Emmanuel Macron today called on European Union (EU) partners to unite in condemning the Turkish invasion of northern Syria, and warned that it could revive the so-called Islamic State (IS).
Speaking in Brussels on the eve of the EU summit, Macron told reporters that he wanted the Union to speak again with a single, clear and firm voice of condemnation of the attack, reports AP.
He called on the 28-member bloc to agree and stop arms exports to Turkey all together.
Macron said that the EU should cooperate with its main international partners in order to end the offensive, which, according to him, is causing a real humanitarian drama and risks triggering a resurgence of IS.
