The US court has ordered the State Department to start delivering documents related to the contacts of the administration of President Donald Trump with Ukraine within 30 days, stating that these are materials of public interest.
The body in charge of overseeing the administration is looking for the documents based on the Freedom of Information Act, AP reported.
The body's lawyer, Daniel McGrath, said at a hearing in federal court in Washington that the documents are of great public interest and advocated working with the government to determine which of them could be released because of a possible classification.
Among the documents that are not in dispute could be the correspondence of Trump's private lawyer Rudy Giuliano and a key participant in the scandal with Ukraine, given that he is not an official of the US administration.
Members of the House of Representatives who are leading the investigation into Trump's impeachment today accused the White House of refusing to provide the documents for which the warrant was issued, which are crucial in the investigation.
