The Kurdish militia in Syria, the People's Protection Units, announced that the spokesman for the leader of the Islamic State was also killed in a joint operation by American and Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria.
As reported, Abu al-Hasan al-Muhajir, who is said to have been the right-hand man of the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed, reports Reuters.
The Syrian Democratic Forces state that they targeted the target near the Syrian border town of Jarablus based on intelligence from the SDF and the US Army, Tanjug reports.
SDF commander Mazlum Abdi said it was a "continuation of the previous operation" in which the leader of the extremist Islamic State was killed.
Abdi called the spokesman Muzhajir the "right hand man" of the leader of the Islamic State.
