The Kurdish militia in Syria, the People's Protection Units, announced that the spokesman for the leader of the Islamic State was also killed in a joint operation by American and Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria.

SDF commander Mazlum Abdi said it was a "continuation of the previous operation" in which the leader of the extremist Islamic State was killed.
Abdi called the spokesman Muzhajir the "right hand man" of the leader of the Islamic State.
