The head of the Central Command of the US Army, Kenneth Frank McKenzie, said today that the murdered leader of the extremist Islamic State, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, was buried at sea.
McKenzie told reporters that al-Baghdadi died after detonating explosives in his vest as US soldiers prepared to arrest him.
He said that two children died in that explosion, not three as was officially announced earlier.
American forces carried out an operation to capture Al-Baghdadi in northwestern Syria on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
