The woman who accused US President Donald Trump of raping her in a New York clothing store more than 23 years ago has filed a lawsuit against him over a statement denying the crime.
Longtime columnist for El magazine, Jean Carroll, stated in the lawsuit that "Trump lied and tarnished her personal integrity, honesty and pride by making up a bunch of related lies to explain that she made it all up," reports Reuters.
Carroll's claims about the alleged rape, which she said took place in a New York department store between the fall of 1995 and the spring of 1996, were published in the magazine in June.
In a statement from White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham, it is stated that "the lawsuit is frivolous and that the story is as false as the author herself."
Carol was suing Trump for saying that he did not rape her and that he had never met her and that she was lying to better sell her book.
