Turkish President Erdogan says that Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, as well as Qatar's Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, are the leaders he respects the most.
Erdogan said in a speech to students that he is struggling to name a leader from Europe who inspires him, reports AP.
"When we look at Europe, there is a serious leadership crisis, a leadership vacuum. I don't have the courage to find such an example in Europe," said the Turkish president.
Erdogan pointed out that he appreciates Trump as a leader who says what's on his mind.
"Whether you like him or not, Trump is an important name. He has no hidden agenda. He tells me things clearly and openly and I tell him things very openly," Erdogan said.
He said that Putin also has no secret agenda, that he is honest and open towards Turkey, and he is convinced that the Russian leader will bring peace to Syria.
Regarding the Qatari sheikh, Erdogan described him as a young and dynamic leader.
Erdogan said that he considers Prophet Muhammad and the founder of modern Turkey, Kemal Ataturk, to be the most inspiring people from the past, and that he appreciates former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as former European leaders.
