At least four people died, more than ten were injured, and many citizens were left without their homes in a series of tornadoes and storms that hit the southeastern United States of America (USA).
The storm death toll rose to four this morning after heavy rain lashed Greenup County, Kentucky overnight.
A flood threat was declared in that part of the USA, and rescuers tried to save two people, one of whom died.
As the AP reports, it is not clear how many tornadoes have roared through the region, but the National Weather Service has posted more than 240 warnings on Twitter since yesterday morning.
The Storm Prediction Center issued at least 30 reports of damage from the storm in the area from east Texas to Alabama and north to Tennessee.
Some cities opened shelters as a cold front collided with a warmer one over states bordering the Gulf of Mexico, sending temperatures plummeting after the storm passed.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, making it difficult to restore power to more than 15 homes and businesses.
