The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has ordered that a daily humanitarian ceasefire be introduced in Eastern Ghouta, a rebel enclave near Damascus, from tomorrow, Russian agencies reported today.
"By the order of the Russian president, in order to avoid civilian casualties in Eastern Ghouta, a daily humanitarian ceasefire will come into force from tomorrow and will last every day from 9.00:14.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.," said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, adding that Russia would help with the evacuation civilian.
Putin made the decision two days after the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for an immediate 30-day ceasefire in Syria to evacuate civilians and the injured, and deliver humanitarian aid.
