An increasing number of countries in Europe and the world are engaging the army to evacuate and receive people from China due to the coronavirus epidemic, and the first countries in the region to join are Romania and Hungary, reports the Balkan Security Network portal.
As stated on the portal balkansec.net, in a special mission of the Romanian Air Force this week, two people who were previously in China were transferred from Germany to Bucharest by a C-27J Spartan transport plane with medical evacuation equipment and an isolation compartment.
Both were placed in quarantine for 14 days.
According to the Romanian media, the city of Bucharest has designated a special facility for the reception and accommodation of people in quarantine.
The building in an unidentified location is designed to house up to one hundred people.
Hungary also engaged the Air Force to transport its citizens who were staying in threatened areas and formed a special task force to fight the corona virus.
On February 319, seven citizens of that country were flown from France to Budapest on an Airbus AXNUMX of the Hungarian Air Force.
That portal added that so far the most numerous evacuations from China to Europe have been carried out by France, Great Britain and Germany, and globally by the USA and Japan.
The role of the armed forces varies from country to country: from air evacuation, reception on the ground, organization of quarantine accommodation and medical supervision.
In the first flight, France transferred about 200 French citizens from China to the Istrian air base in the south of the country, and the passengers were placed in quarantine at a resort near Marseille.
On January 30, the United Kingdom government transferred 150 Britons and about fifty people from other parts of Europe from China on a special charter flight, while Berlin extensively uses military resources in an emergency situation and places its citizens from China in the Gemmersheim military base near Stuttgart.
Italy and Turkey also deployed their air forces to evacuate their nationals, while Russia deployed an Il-76 military transport plane to airlift 144 people it has placed at a resort in the Siberian region of Tyumen, also provided by the military.
"At the global level, the largest engagement of the military in taking care of fellow citizens from the epicenter of the epidemic in China was organized by the USA. The Pentagon has made available military bases throughout the North American continent to the Ministry of Health for the needs of quarantine accommodation. A total of six air bases are used to receive evacuees and quarantine - March, Travis and Miramar in California, Fort Carson in Colorado and Lackland in Texas. An additional 11 military bases near the largest international airports in that country will serve the needs of quarantine accommodation," the text added.
